Really, how *come* I don't have a middle finger t-shirt? I really kinda want one. Guess I'll just put it on my wish-list of things that don't exist (like hover-boards).

And if anyone's still interested in the project Matt and I are doing (52 Weeks, 52 songs) as The Honorable Mentions (our band), check out our newest song:
http://thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/
I think there have been quite a few new ones since I've last updated. We've been late, but haven't missed a week and there are 23 songs so far (soon to be 24!).

So, I'm posting again! My God, what *has* happened to me?! Anyhow, so here's the newest comic. This is actually as caught up as I am on my site, sadly. The 52 Songs 52 Weeks project has really been eating up a lot of time, so I haven't been able to update the comic as much as I would like.
And speaking of, the new song for our project has been posted, so if you're interested, as always, go to http://thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/ to hear it. It's called Sleeping in the Crucible and is kind of a synth-ey, classical music influenced kind of rock song with lots of Beach-boys-ish background harmony vocals. So, yeah, I guess that about sums it up. Or not. I guess you'll have to listen to see! Or hear...oh man, I'm tired.

This is probably old news (?) maybe, but I thought it was a cool song and video:
Also, on a random note, it's really late, and I just got back from Star Trek. It was amazing. By far, the best movie I have seen in a very, very long time. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a movie that I liked that much...maybe The Matrix, so yeah, it's been a while.

Ok, thought I'd post some recent comix since it's been so long since I've posted here. So there they are down below. Also, Matt and I are still working on a song a week (part of the reason I've been so bad about posting...) and we've got the newest song up. It's got ukulele (which I'm clearly excited about and always so unsure about how to spell) and a cool stomping sample that Matt found somewhere online, so check it out, if that's what you're into. There are also a bunch of other new songs! I think it's been at least a month since I posted here last about this. http://thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/

Wow, I just think Annie Clark is amazing. This new album sounds like it's going to be amazing. Be sure to visit ilovestvincent.com to listen to more songs (if you want).

Well, it's been while since I've posted here, but Matt and I are still recording songs for our 52 Weeks, 52 Songs project and we're still posting them for all to hear on the our wordpess blog. Come check out the latest few songs we've done.
http://thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/
Also, if you read Matt's write-up there, you'll see that we also just put the finishing touches on another song that we wrote with our other band Human Beatbox Light Show. We posted it on the blog so everyone can hear that too. Check it out!

A new song:
http://thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/
This one's got a more organic feel to it. We really wanted to add some electronic/crazy noises to it, but in the end it just didn't fit with the sound. Still, we couldn't stop ourselves from adding a toy piano in during the bridge. Heh heh.
Oh yeah, and come check out my new site! It's powered by Comicspress now and I think you guys will like it. There's an rss feed, a comments section, and I'm going to start tagging comics to make searching easier...So come on by!

Never before have I been so keenly aware of how many weeks of the year have passed! It's already week 7 of this year and that means another new offering in our 52 Weeks 52 Songs project. Our most recent song is one we recorded entirely on Matt's laptop (even the vocals were recorded into his built-in laptop microphone). We built the song around a crazy beat from our modified casio (Mr. Chaosio, to you!) and then ended up throwing that beat away once the song was half-way finished, not because it was bad, but because it no longer fit in. The song has accoustic guitar, distorted keyboard, and some more great beats that Matt laid down. Anyway, I'll refrain from blathering on and just give you the link:

Enjoy, I hope, and see you at Week 8 (unless I ever get around to posting some more comics before then, heh heh).

Here's another new song in our 52 Weeks 52 Songs project. It's got lots of vocals, a spare-ish arrangement and some cool beat (thanks to Matt). Hope you guys like it!

Hey guys, here's another new song! Take a look at the description that Matt wrote for this (it's pretty funny).

Oops, I forgot the lyrics. I'll post them tonight!

Hi all, Matt and I just posted song #4. Actually, it's two versions of song #4. One is a rock version of the song "Locked Piano" and the other is a solo piano (and vocals) version called "Locked Piano (Unlocked Version)."
http://thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/
Matt does a great job talking about it in our blurb there, so make sure to read that before listening. I'm trying to think if I can add anything new to his description. I guess I could tell you a bit about the instrumentation. On the official rock version Matt played the electric guitar, the acoustic and came up with the awesome drum beat using drum software. I played an acoustic guitar part also and the snippet of organ on the bridge. In the "Unlocked Version" I'm playing the piano and singing. So, yeah, that's it. Oh and there were some shenanigans occurring during recording that I will definitely put in my comic (if I ever get around to drawing it or posting it again! Hahaha).
Oh, and here are the lyrics for the curious:
locked piano, long locked piano behind its wooden doors locked piano key's done its dance locked piano
the key's to blame (x3) I know
I'm so safe here where I can think clear behind my wooden doors locked piano key's done its dance stayed my hand 'til I lost my chance
the key's to blame (x3) I know
King doubt throws his hand down turns me all around the moon creeps by with no sound the ghost of the soul who walks the patrol for the one who'll let you know
the key's to blame (x3) I know
Something's burning hot deep down and forgot molten strings won't let you go jealously guarding what you lost here behind your wooden doors hollow, hollow wood who wishes I could stop the brain's feast on the soul quiet in the hall bleed into the wall why can't I let you know
the key's to blame (x3) I know
Thanks for listening!

Ok, here's our new song Caught in a Frame:
http://www.thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/
With lyrics, for the curious:
the subjects are falling down caught in a frame where they can't hurt you now like an actress fixed in a frown the marquis is blank as a portrait with two eyes that can't see you
the ticker tape is wet on the ground the song ringing past is slowly drowned out the silent girl standing here on the ground holding a pose for a photo with two arms that can't reach you
this deceptive artistry captured you there left for me replacing memories with something terrible

Ok, so we just posted song #2 in our quest to record 52 songs in 52 weeks! Maybe someday I'll post some more comics here (hahaha), but for now follow the link to hear the song. It has an electronic beat and many layers of vocals.
http://thehonorablementions.wordpress.com/
We primarily used a Nintendo DS for the beat, a piano and our circuit-bent casio sk-1 to fill out the rest of the song. The Sk-1 creates the "demented geese honking" sounds in the intro, siren-ish/slide guitar-like sounds during the bridge and ambient crackles at the very end of the track...in case you're wondering, heh heh.

Matt and I are trying to record 52 songs in 52 weeks, and hopefully we won't fall flat on our faces effectively humiliating ourselves in front of family, friends and the entire internets...but I digress. Check out our first song:

Click the link Little Houses to listen and...enjoy?
Oh yeah, and I made the banner for the site, so there's a little Squarecat art there, if you're not interested in the music. :D

'Cus I just took a comics dump on my site (and also here). Scroll down kids, for swearing, assholery and downright nasty digs at Public Service of NH...

So, yeah, I'm really bad about updating this. I've just been really overwhelmed with all that I've been busy doing lately, that I rarely have time to come here and post. I'd really like to do it more often, but time is always just getting away from me (which is why the comic is perpetually running late). It kinda sucks. You want to live your life, but you want to live it online too. On top of that I'm trying to fit in writing music. Anyhow, not to complain, but the reality of it is that I'm finding the whole thing almost impossible to balance, leaving me feeling continually dissatisfied. So...without further ado, here are a few more late comics.

On a more positive note, we're getting slammed with a snowstorm this weekend, making my time crunch even worse with the both of us spending hours shoveling. Yay, New England! The silver lining is that it's always fun to draw snowy-looking scenes in the comic, so, at least that will happen, I guess.
